Today, Spirit Bear Lodge is a world class ecotourism and adventure travel businesses that employs many Klemtu locals in positions ranging from guest services and cooking to boat operations and wildlife tour guides.

Kitasoo Seafoods specializes in Roe on Kelp / Kazunoko Kombu to the Japanese market and other international customers. With an emphasis on community leadership, Kitasoo Seafoods is a long-term pillar of the sustainable fishing industry on the naturally pristine Pacific West Coast of Canada.
Kitasoo Seafoods also holds six salmon farm tenures on behalf of the community, currently leased and operated by Mowi Canada West through a protocol agreement. These farms provide over 20 full-time, year-round jobs for community members.
Kitasoo Forest Company, owned entirely by the Kitasoo Xai’xais First Nation, has been in operation since 1996. In 2013, a strategic alliance formed between Kitasoo Forest Company and Western Forest Products to unlock the maximum benefits from the abundant timber reserves in Kitasoo Xai’xais Territory. The company’s primary objective is to empower the Kitasoo Xai’xais community by controlling extensive forested areas, fostering economic growth, and preserving the local environment and cultural heritage. Over 50% of the territory is shielded from logging and development activities, while all timber operations adhere strictly to Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) principles.
First Nations Fuels is Klemtu’s only fuel service. This company provides a marine fuel dock that services boats as well as a gas station for vehicles. It is located on the northern side of the village near the Smoking Plant and Band Store.
The Kitasoo Xai’xais Community Store in Klemtu offers quality food services, ensuring a regular supply of fresh food throughout the year. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality food and service, at affordable prices. Expect a fresh shipment every Sunday during Fall and Winter, and additional smaller shipments every week in the Summer.
