A drone, or unmanned air vehicle (UAV), is a power-driven aircraft of any size that is remotely controlled or has automated flight capability.
Drone use in Kitasoo/Xai’xais territory is not permitted in the Territory without prior written permission from the Kitasoo/Xai’xais stewardship office.
Transport Canada (TC) and the Canadian Aviation Regulations regulate UAV use in Canada’s airspace. TC’s federal flight requirements for use of drones include distances from people, buildings, built-up areas, and animals (both domestic and wildlife).
To apply for permission for drone use, please complete the form below and submit to: engagement@kxsa.ca

We welcome the many visitors that come to experience the beauty and wildness of our home and ask that you follow these practices as you endeavor to take photographs and videos away with you. If you intend to sell or distribute commercially any media products, you must also obtain a protocol agreement with the Kitasoo/Xai’xais Stewardship Authority.
The Kitasoo/Xai’xais Nation requires that any cultural heritage features discovered within Kitasoo/Xai’xais territory will be managed in a way to protect and/or enhance cultural heritage features.
If you come across a cultural heritage feature or artifact, leave it in place, note the location, fill out a Cultural Heritage Feature Discovery Form and report to the Kitasoo/Xai’xais Stewardship Authority as soon as possible.
