The Kitasoo/Xai’xais Stewardship Authority (KXSA) is undertaking a program to help re-invigorate the Hereditary Chieftainship governance system. KXSA, along with the input of any interested parties, intends to develop a process for reviewing information, gathering more information, and producing a set of documents that summarize the roles and responsibilities of Hereditary Chiefs including:

• Statement of Kitasoo/Xai’xais Indigenous law
• “Code of conduct” or “list of protocols” for Hereditary Chiefs
• Summary of Hereditary Chief ownership privileges
