The Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation has 517 band members, 319 of whom live in Klemtu. The Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation Council is governed by a Chief and Council that is elected every 2 years under a custom election system. Our Band Council is comprised of a Band Chief and 6 Council Members. Each council member, including the Chief (as elected), is appointed to a specific portfolio which will directly involve them with each program or service the Kitasoo Xai’xais First Nation delivers to the community.
