Over half of Kitasoo Xai’xais territory is protected from forestry operations. In the areas that are open to timber harvesting, we are committed to ensuring that operations respect and protect Kitasoo Xai’xais culture, wildlife, and the natural environment. To this end, cultural features such as culturally modified trees are protected, as are bear dens and class I grizzly bear habitat. Visual quality – the visibility of cut to the public – is also carefully considered.
