The General Carpenter supports residential and infrastructure construction projects in the remote community of Klemtu, British Columbia, performing carpentry and related construction tasks in accordance with established safety and quality standards. The role may be performed under supervision and may include progressive skill development in alignment with apprenticeship and Red Seal certification requirements, where applicable.

Wage: $35 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
•Perform carpentry tasks under the direction of a Journeyperson or Lead Hand.
•Assist with layout, measuring, cutting, assembly, and installation of materials.
•Apply carpentry techniques aligned with apprenticeship training levels.
•Read and interpret basic drawings and instructions.
•Safely use hand and power tools in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
•Maintain job site cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
•Follow all workplace health and safety regulations and PPE requirements.
•Actively participate in apprenticeship training and skills development.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager.
Qualifications:
•Registered carpenter apprentice or minimum 2–4 years of carpentry experience or with intent to pursue Red Seal certification.
•Framing and renovation carpentry experience considered an asset.
•Concrete finishing experience considered an asset.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
•Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
•Must supply own hand tools and required PPE.
•Ability to work in a remote location and coastal weather conditions.
•Zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol while on shift.
•Basic understanding of carpentry tools, materials, and construction practices.
•Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
•Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to learning.
•Valid driver’s license is considered an asset.
