SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Housing & Public Works Department Manager,
the Tenant Relations Coordinator is responsible for designated aspects of housing construction, operation and
maintenance of the Band housing program. The Tenant Relations Coordinator is to ensure that all projects
proceed according to policy and within budgets. He/she is accountable for financial performance, reporting and
quality standards of the Housing Program service delivery.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
A. Assist consultants on housing project proposal writing;
B. Assist in identifying housing needs in the community;

As to the Coordination of Band Rental Projects

C. Coordinate Band Rental Projects by recommending the initiation of contracts, enforcing compliance
and exercising control over discretionary spending as per the approved Housing Program budget;
D. Assist in maintaining operation agreement with C.M.H.C.;
E. Ensure that new tenants understand their rights and obligations and that rent to purchase agreements
are in place;
F. Ensure that tenants adhere to the terms and conditions of their rental contracts;
G. Send out notices of rent due and make rent collections;
H. Schedule repairs, coordinate contractors, schedule inspections
I. Maintain records of renovations, septic drainage and chimney cleaning;
J. Keep renovation payment records for homeowner’s portion;
K. Visit homes to monitor that proper care is undertaken by tenants and ensuring that repairs are
completed;

As to the Reporting

L. Prepare monthly financial reports covering for the Housing Program and provides the information to
the Finance Officer as part of the information flow contained in the Operations Manual;
M. Prepare monthly service delivery status report and convey this information the Housing & Public Works
Department Manager during the monthly general staff meeting as set out by the program Manager;
N. Assist in preparing reports to funding agencies in a timely manner so as to avoid any interruption in
funding;

As to the Other related duties

O. Establish and maintain good working relationship with other Band staff and representatives of outside
agencies such as: C.M.H.C., ISC, Canada Employment and Immigration Commission and B.C. Native
Housing Authority;
P. Assist in developing work plans for new residential projects;
Q. Attend, participate and present reports at Housing Committee meetings upon request;
R. Participate in seminars, workshops, and training programs to upgrade skills and knowledge relevant to
the position;
S. Follow the provisions of the Housing Program Policies and Procedures and provisions of the Operations
Manual;
T. Adhere to the Code of Conduct as contained in the Operations Manual;
U. Encourage and foster a team spirit within the office and operations in general;

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 or equivalent;
• Must type and be proficient in the operation of computers and business machines;
• Knowledge of project management principals and practices;
• Previous experience in accounting for government programs and knowledge of administrative policy is an
asset;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiative to develop new procedures and documents.
SALARY AND REMUNERATIONS:
Rate of $19.50 per hour per term.
DURATION
The duration of this term will be temporary full-time until March 31, 2020.
